PULSED ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD (PEMF)
Our XL PRO Pulsed PEMF therapy is the most powerful treatment we offer. In addition to reducing pain fast it also helps stimulate the body's natural repair mechanism, healing damaged tissue and restoring function. FDA approved in the United States for treatment of bone fracture, PEMF has over 550 published research studies published by the National Library of Medicine. These studies include a wide assortment of conditions helped including Pain, Prostate Disease, Alzheimer's, and even Cancer. What's more impressive is that PEMF therapy requires no medications, injections or surgeries, and it is virtually free from side effects as long as you do not have any electronic equipment implanted in your body.
HOW AND WHY IT WORKS
HISTORY OF PEMF
As far back as 200 B.C. Greek physician Galen noted the powers of magnetism in his book De Simplicum Medicamentorum Temperamentis Ac Facultatibus. In China, magnetic therapy has been practiced since around 2000 B.C. as noted in The Yellow Emperor’s Book of Internal Medicine. At the end of the 19th Century, Albert Einstein showed that electricity and magnetism are not discrete phenomena, but different aspects of the same phenomenon. Medical textbooks began including magnetism and electricity as therapeutic alternatives for insomnia, fatigue, arthritis, pain and convulsion. Modern clinical application of electro-biology hit North America in 1971 when Friedenberg described success in treating a nonunion fracture with 10 micro amps of direct current delivered via stainless steel electrodes. Dr. Andrew Bassett at Columbia University medical Center introduced a new approach that employed biphasic low frequency electromagnetic signals. In 1979 the FDA allowed electromagnetic fields to be used in the USA for non-union and delayed union fractures. Ten years later the FDA approved its use for pain and edema in superficial soft tissues. Today PEMF it is accepted as a treatment for healing fractures, providing pain relief, and addressing muscle tone and spasm.

TREATMENT FOR ENLARGED PROSTATE AND ED
The new method used in the study to treat dogs with BPH was pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF). PEMF is a noninvasive method that generates both an electrical and magnetic field and is used in orthopedics, neurology, and urology. It has been reported to have an anti-inflammatory effect and increases healing and blood circulation. The idea of using this method for BPH is to improve prostate blood flow and reduce the size of the prostate gland. The study used a PEMF device from Germany. The study included 20 dogs with BPH. They received treatment with PEMF for 5 minutes, twice a day for three weeks. The device was simply held over the skin where the prostate is located. An average 57% reduction in the size of the prostate resulted from PEMF treatment in only three weeks, a remarkable improvement. There was no interference with semen quality, testosterone levels or libido. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24913937). Doppler parameters showed a reduction of peripheral blood resistances and a progressive reduction in resistance of the blood flow in the dorsal branch of the prostatic artery. Decrease in prostate volume in 20 dogs treated with pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. T0=baseline, T1-T3=weeks 1-3 after treatment. Prostate volume was significantly lower than baseline at each week of treatment. The efficacy of PEMF on BPH in dogs, with no side effects, suggests that it might be a great treatment in humans. The study also supports the hypothesis that impairment of blood supply to the lower urinary tract may be a causative factor in the development of BPH. In the clinic we have seen similar results with our patients. Most reporting a decrease in prostate related symptoms in as little as 2 weeks and lasting results after about a month of care.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
PEMF therapy is a new and exciting approach to helping the body heal. We are seeing amazing results in patients who have tried everything else with little change. We are excited to offer this treatment to Southwest Florida and look forward to showing you how PEMF therapy might help you with your health.
Does Insurance cover pemf?
A 30 minute PEMF treatment costs $75.00, many patients will do a series of 10 treatments to produce a lasting result. There is no insurance coverage for this treatment.
Is pemf safe?
The only contraindications for PEMF therapy is that you must not have any electrical devices implanted in your body. Pacemakers are the most common item that will disqualify a person from getting this treatment.
What pemf equipment do you use?
We use the Pulse XL Pro PEMF devices, we have two. These are the most advanced and strongest PEMF medical devices currently available. We see long lasting changes in most of our patients with 10 treatments.
