USING ELECTRICITY TO END PAIN

Picture
The Hako-Med has been cleared by the FDA for a number of indications, but unlike other electrical therapy devices used by physical therapists and chiropractors in the United States, this equipment has been engineered for the physician involved in clinical pain management and neuropathy. It has a close relationship to surgically implanted electronic simulators except that it is effectively delivered through the skin, without needles. The Hako-Med delivers electronic frequencies that can block the pain signal and heal nerves without painful injections or dangerous medications.
Many patients will say it has a “feel” similar to a TENS unit but the device is much more complex and sophisticated. A TENS unit produces between 1 and 100 Hz of frequency and is able to distract the patient from their pain by vibrating the injured tissue. A Hako-Med can generate frequency up to 20,000 Hz. When exposed to these higher frequencies you cause a biochemical reaction that expends cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). In other words, it uses up the chemicals that cause pain. A complete block will usually happen in about 20 minutes. This is not possible with a TENS unit or less complex electrical stimulator that does not use these higher frequencies.

CLINICAL IMPORTANCE

Dr. Hansjürgens is the inventor of the Hako-Med Horizontal Therapy device and he coined the term “multifacilitory stimulation” to describe these intracellular results and other benefits of electromedical treatments at frequencies greater than those that stimulate nerve firing. I have never met him personally but I have spoken with his son on several occasions. He lives in Hawaii where he continues his fathers research. The Hako-Med is my first line of defense when a patient comes into the clinic bent over and in severe pain. Usually after one 45 minute session they can walk upright and report 50-100% improvement. This treatment works as effectively as a nerve block (injection) but you do not need to penetrate the skin or suffer the side effects of prescription medication. Repeated steroid nerve injections can cause osteoporosis and many other diseases. Besides most patients don’t like needles. When I hurt my back I used the Hako-Med several times a day as part of my rehabilitation. As I improved, I combined the Hako-Med therapy with walking on a treadmill or riding a reclined bike while I breathed 5-10 liters of oxygen per minute. The results were outstanding. This device is the missing link in treating Chronic Pain syndromes like Fibromyalgia, Neuropathy, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) and many other nerve based disorders. It seems the possibilities with this equipment is endless.

I'm interested in learning more about the Hako med device. Also just purchased a XL Pro PEMF and watched your video. Totally different than what was recommended. Pulsed centers recommended 2 free sessions as demo. Did you do that in the beginning and how would you recommend to set up the variables to get best changes during such a demo? Also 1/2 hr/day vs 1 hr 3x/week was that for patient compliance or results were better? Appreciate you sharing.

Dr. Stokes
I am very interested in going through Hako-Med-Laser Healing treatment. Listened to your explanation, would you recommend a doctor in Honolulu who would provide these treatments? Dr. Jeremy Alosa ran full page newspaper ad every week showcasing 'successes' but when I searched on YELP, reviews all came in high negatives, naturally, I'm very skeptical in trying this. I think I have neuropathy on my feet and I would love to have it go away. Can you advise any reputable centers here? Would love to hear from you. Thank you very much!

Hi Doc, I contacted you after seeing your video on Hako Med. I purchased an older unit and not sure if it has all the programs the newer one has. Would a good protocol be 4000 Htz for acute then what frequency would I use after 2 with the older unit? Also do you know if the older Horizontal therapy unit has Diascan? Thanks so much! We run a high volume neuropathy clinic in N.J. with similar equipment as you're using!
