The first time I experienced a cranial adjustment was while in Chiropractic school at Logan College. I was having a dull pain across the back of my head, likely from spending to much time studying, so I dropped by the student clinic to get an adjustment. It was late in the day and my usual doctor was not there so I saw "Dr. Alice". She took a case history and immediately stared fumbling around with my head using very light touch. It was not uncomfortable but a little strange. She asked me to lie down and then she placed the tips of her fingers up under my head between the skull (occiput) and 1st cervical vertebra (Atlas). It hurt a bit. Relax she instructed. Breath. Her fingers sank deeper and I could feel my head decompress from my neck. Strange sensation. My whole body relaxed and my pain decreased. This lasted for about 2 minutes and when it was over I was pain free. At the time I was not sure about the mechanism of the treatment but I knew I felt better and needed to learn this work.
