CREATING A NEGATIVE PRESSURE
Helping create a negative pressure in damaged tissues is very useful for influencing healing and promoting Angiogenesis. Traditional Chinese Medicine has promoted this concept for thousands of years with primitive treatment modalities like cupping, however the inability to properly regulate the amount of negative pressure used or record data for each treatment has lead to inconsistent results and in many cases unwanted tissue damage. Using a regulated, medical grade vacuum machine we have solved these problems and can provide an ideal environment for angiogenesis to occur without the negative side effects. We call this approach Vacuum Cupping.
Recently this approach has received a lot of media attention because of it's popularity among the swimmers of the Olympic team. Note the severe red marks indicating tissue damage. When the treatment is regulated correctly these marks are not necessary.
We have treated thousands of patients using this modality with excellent results and minimal complications. It is our belief that the same mechanism seen in VAC (vacuum assisted closure) is being activated in our protocols however we are still collecting data and are currently trying to publish research to support this idea. So in the meantime why patients get better with this treatment is still being studied. We have included a research paper on VAC which we believe is relevant to the discussion of how this treatment works, but we are still not sure.
